LABEL BOY
Terms of use

WHICH VERSION THIS COVERS
-------------------------

These terms apply to version 0.26 of LABEL BOY, the release named in
this file. They are granted for this release and do not bind any later
one.

Releasing this version free of charge is a decision about this version.
The author remains the author, and a later release may carry different
terms, including a price. That takes nothing away from this one: a copy
obtained under these terms stays under them, for as long as it exists.

THE SHORT VERSION
-----------------

Free to download, free to run, free to put on a cartridge, free to give
to somebody else. Nobody may sell this version. The labels you print
with it are yours.

THE LABELS ARE YOURS
--------------------

Every label made with this cartridge belongs to whoever makes it. Use
it on a shelf, a box, a jar, a cable or a shop counter, privately or in
a business. No credit, no permission, no fee.

WHAT YOU MAY DO
---------------

Download it and run it, in an emulator or on real hardware.

Write it to a flash cartridge for your own use. That is what it was
    made for.

Copy it and pass it on, complete and unchanged, together with this
file, the README and the credits.

Print as many labels as your paper allows, for yourself or for
    others.

Write about it, take screenshots of it, film it, put it in a video
or an article. No permission needed.

WHAT YOU MAY NOT DO
-------------------

Sell it, or anything containing it. That includes selling a
cartridge with this ROM on it, whether the price is for the ROM,
for the cartridge, or "for the work of flashing it".

Use it, or any part of it, in a commercial product.

Publish a changed version under its name. Private changes are your
own business; a modified copy that circulates as LABEL BOY is not.

If you want to do something that is not on either list, ask. The address
is at the top of this file, and the answer is usually yes.

THE FORMAL EQUIVALENT
---------------------

For the cartridge itself, these terms match Creative Commons
Attribution NonCommercial NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND
4.0). The labels printed with it are not covered by that licence; they
belong to whoever prints them. Where the wording above and the licence
differ, the wording above is what is meant.

NUMBERS THAT BELONG TO SOMEBODY ELSE
------------------------------------

EAN numbers are issued by GS1 to the companies that make the goods. The
cartridge encodes any number it is given and works out the check digit,
but it cannot know whose number that is. Printing a number that belongs
to somebody else, or one that was made up, is the responsibility of
whoever prints it. For numbers of your own, Code 128 is the right
choice.

The same goes for what a QR code points to. The cartridge encodes what
was typed; where it leads is the business of whoever typed it.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED
-------------------

The cartridge names products of Nintendo, Namco and other companies.
Those names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners and are used
here only to identify the hardware it works with.

This is an independent work. It is not made, licensed, endorsed or
reviewed by Nintendo or Namco.

NO WARRANTY, AND NO LIABILITY
-----------------------------

This software is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind.

Nothing it does is beyond what an ordinary game does with a Game Boy
Printer: it sends pictures down the link cable and keeps its labels in
the cartridge's battery-backed memory.

Paper for this printer has not been made for a long time, and every
print uses some. That is why nothing is printed without a preview.

The author accepts no liability for loss or damage arising from the use
of this cartridge, including paper, saved labels and damage caused by
batteries. Anyone running it does so on their own responsibility.
