The Barcode Boy, developed by Sofel and released by Namcot in 1992, attaches to the Game Boy and lets it scan barcodes. Scanned cards were used by games such as Monster Maker: Barcode Saga to customise characters and battle opponents.
This is the first of the bundled Barcode Boy sets, the usual way the hardware was sold since it cannot work alone. The second bundle and the rare standalone unit are also catalogued in the collection.
