This is the original Japanese release of Super Mario Land (DMG-MLA) from 1989, the first Mario game on the Game Boy and one of the console's launch titles.
The game sold more than 18 million copies worldwide and was successful enough to spawn two sequels. As the Japanese first printing it sits at the very start of that history; the US version, the sequels and a period strategy guide are catalogued separately in the collection.
