GAME BOY™ WALKIE TALKIE BOY™

Nintendo licensed Walkie Talkie Boy, Game Boy shaped walkie talkies by Mani, 1995

The Walkie Talkie Boy is an officially licensed Nintendo novelty made by Mani, styled to look like a Game Boy. Sold as a pair, the two units work as short-range walkie talkies and even include a Morse code transmission function, a flexible antenna, a quartz crystal and a removable belt clip.

Released in 1995 and marketed in six colours, it belongs to Mani's range of Game Boy shaped gadgets, alongside the Time Boy clock and the Calculator Boy already catalogued in the collection. Novelties like this show how Nintendo extended the Game Boy look far beyond gaming in the mid-1990s.
