NANOLOOP NL13

Nanoloop NL13 music-creation cartridge for the Nintendo Game Boy, in a blank GAME shell

Nanoloop is a music sequencer and synthesizer on a Game Boy cartridge, created by the Hamburg artist and musician Oliver Wittchow. First circulated at the end of the 1990s, it turns the handheld into a compact groovebox for making electronic music directly on the console, and it became a cornerstone of the emerging chiptune scene alongside Little Sound Dj.

This copy is the NL13 unit, on a silver nanoloop label. Like many early nanoloop cartridges it sits in a plain third-party shell moulded only with the word GAME rather than the full Nintendo Game Boy marking, with PAT. PEND. on the back.
