Qix is the Game Boy version of the classic arcade game first released by Taito in 1981. The player controls a marker that draws lines to claim areas of the screen, trying to fence off a large enough share of the playfield while avoiding the Qix, a restless line creature, and the Sparx that patrol the edges. It is a tense, abstract puzzle-action game that translates well to the handheld's small screen.
This US release was published by Nintendo in 1990, with the Game Boy conversion handled by Minakuchi Engineering. The copy catalogued here is complete in box. Simple to grasp but hard to master, Qix is one of the early Game Boy titles that showed the console could carry pure arcade puzzle designs as comfortably as platformers.
